Energize Half Term Schemes05 November 2010
During the school half term, the Energize Team were running schemes up on Saxilby, Moorlands and Ermine, delivering multi-sports, girls’ pamper days, street dance workshops, football tournaments, and a trip to Playzone and Alton Towers.
For Jason, Saxilby was his favourite place during the schemes: “everyone over there had great a great attitude and was really up for getting involved in all of the activities.”
Jarryd, on the other hand, was really inspired by the kids on Moorlands; “even in the shocking weather, with rain tipping down and the wind whipping round, the guys still came along to the sports days and were still really up for it and really eager to get involved. It was great to see!”
The team saw over one hundred young people during the fortnight, ending with ninety-five young people descending on Playzone, and forty making the long trek to Alton Towers.
“Playzone and Alton Towers were definitely my highlights,” said Ed; “both were just amazing; everyone had so much energy and enthusiasm; great fun.”
Playzone was the highlight for Joel this half-term: “it was great to see so many kids from across the estates come together, making friends and having fun together.”
The team are now back delivering schemes at schools around the city as the Autumn term continues.
