Foodbank on the BBC29 October 2010
The Foodbank in Salisbury was in the news recently telling the story of Sara, a mother of two, who became a Foodbank client when her husband’s work dried up earlier this year. It’s an amazing story about what Foodbank’s been doing across the nation. The Lincoln Foodbank has been open for just over two years now, working in partnership with the Community Larder. In that time, we’ve fed over five thousand people in Lincoln alone, more than one thousand of which were children.
We accept referrals from agencies around the city such as doctor’s surgeries, Catch 22, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and many more. These agencies can give their client a voucher to be exchanged for a food parcel at the distribution centre.
The BBC article notes a rise in referrals across the country, and Lincoln is no different; we’ve seen a marked increase in the number of new referrals in recent months, distributing on average more than ten parcels in a week of various sizes.
If you would like to support Foodbank, you can do so by donating food on a regular basis, volunteering on the project, or signing up to become an Acts Partner and supporting Foodbank by regularly giving a small amount.
