New Energize Team!24 September 2010

The summer has passed and autumn is settling in, so it’s about time we said hello to our new Energize Team!

We have six young people who’ve given a year of their lives to serve God and the church, going into schools delivering lessons, organising clubs and helping with youth on Friday nights. On the team this year is Jarryd, Jason, George, Joel, Ed and Rowena (see picture left!). 

The team have been officially on board for three weeks now following the summer schemes, and have begun going into schools to deliver self esteem lessons, street dance workshops and more. Rowena said “it’s been great to see how the guys in the schools have already changed in the space of a week – they’re already more confident in taking part and talking to us.” A highlight for Jarryd so far has been the sport clubs - “these kids have limitless enthusiasm! I love how keen they are to get involved and support each other.”

The team are looking forward to getting stuck into the year ahead; Jason is “excited to be working with young people and seeing their lives impacted by God!” Joel can’t wait to see God move in the young people in Lincoln; “in some ways I’m looking forward to the end of the year, just to be able to see how far God’s taken us and everyone we’re going to meet this year.”

However, this time will not be without its challenges. Ed thinks his biggest challenge this year is going to be “not getting involved in absolutely everything; there are so many amazing things on offer that I’m going to have to be careful to wait on God and find out what His plan for me is”, whereas George feels his challenge will be “administration! I love meeting and working with people, but I know I’m going to be learning some new and invaluable skills this year in the office as well as out of it.”

Dan Hargreaves, project coordinator, is excited about the year ahead: “I want to see them build firm foundations in life with God and get stuck into serving the church and the community we live in. Can’t wait!”
