A Day in the Life of the Acts Furniture Project Team
Oh what fun! I raced to a furniture pick up during my hour lunch break and picked up one of two beds. Then my collegue went back after work to pick the other one up whilst I waited at the warehouse.
Being late afternoon, it was getting dark. Strangely enough, I could find no light switches going up the stairs or in any part of the upstairs of the new premises!! However, I did find some switches on the wall in the kitchen, which I duly tried but nothing happened.
Anyway, as I was leaving the building and locking up, I heard very loud sirens from an ‘emergency’ vehicle that seemed quite close. The next thing I know, like something out of a blockbuster movie, this police car comes tearing round the corner all sirens blaring, lights flashing. The car comes to a stop and this policeman hops out. He tells me that a personal attack alarm had been set off in the building! I was interrogated & he searched the building, but seems it was some kind of false alarm - or me pressing something in error!!
Who would have known that getting involved serving our commmunity through redistributing furniture could be such an edge of the seat thrill ride.
