ABOUT US
OUR VISION
Acts Trust was founded by Alive Church Lincoln in 2006 and has a vision to see Empowered People Living in Thriving Communities.
Working with local people who are passionate about making a difference (many from the local church community) we have enabled and nurtured many great projects and initiatives that work towards this vision.
These projects are not designed to do things to or for people, but rather with people. This is what empowerment is about; not fixing people’s problems for them but creating opportunities for them to overcome challenges themselves and make a difference to their own lifes and those of the people around them.
We would love to see every neighbourhood within the city of Lincoln thriving as people are empowered and better connected to those around them.
OUR MISSION
At Acts we have a specific focus on Poverty. Poverty is brokenness, it is a state of lacking; tangibly and intangibly. For people to overcome all forms of poverty is to be able to live life as we are fully intended to live it.
That’s why to help make our vision a reality, we know that our specific mission is to Empower People to End Poverty.
Poverty exists when one of the relationships we were created to enjoy becomes broken.
-
These are our relationships with:
-
─ The Earthhow we connect with the world around us and the resources it provides
-
─ Ourselveshow we view, relate to and look after ourselves
-
─ Othershow we relate with other people around us
-
─ God
how we connect with our creator, or for those without faith, how we connect with that sense of purpose; why am I here?
To end poverty is to help people to restore these relationships. More often than not, these relationships are intrinsically linked, so to be effective in our mission we need to support people holistically, which often means not just focusing on the obvious issues, but digging down and helping people to understand root causes and wider issues around poverty.
Acts Trust is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 for emissions scopes 1, 2 and 3. The commitment was made on 2nd December 2025 by the Board of Trustees.
