Time to celebrate our volunteers

The awards based on the Acts Trust values

The day started with a big picture overview of the work of Acts Trust. There was then a chance to share the challenges and successes that the different teams have experienced this year. A celebration day wouldn’t be complete without food and our volunteer award ceremony. Team members nominated each other based on the values of Acts Trust: Honour, Excellence, Determination, Relationship, Generosity and Empowerment. There were also two additional awards, the Harbertson Awards, which was in memory of a long standing volunteer who is no longer with us, and the Volunteer of the Year award.

Here are some of our incredible winners:

Winner Martin Joy – “I haven’t met many volunteers but when I met Martin, what immediately struck me was his genuine compassion for his clients, his warmth, and his cheery and open personality. I can only imagine that leading with this approach has had a positive effect on his team – but also made it a lot easier for clients to use our services.”
Winner Barbara Williams – “Barbara has continually gone the extra mile to quietly give of her time and energy to make sure the children are well looked after so our guests can make the most all the café offers. She notices when there is a need and offers to help without being asked, always arrives early to help with setting up, is reliable, generous and has a wonderful attitude.”
Winners of our Volunteer of the Year award and Harbertson Award –
Jacqui Macdonald and Richard & Christine Billinghurst

The feedback from the day was really positive. The volunteers said that they loved hearing about the bigger picture of what Acts does. More importantly they left feeling honoured and celebrated.
