Why 60 minutes could make all the difference to your health.
One hour per month.
It doesn’t sound like much, does it? You could watch almost a whole football match, an episode
of The Apprentice or cook a pasta bake in the same time. You could also spend one hour
focusing on your mental health, one of the most valuable ways to improve your wellbeing.
Working alongside the Foodbank, Community Grocery and the Night Light Cafe
is the Restore Programme.
This programme consists of a range of courses, specifically designed to empower people to
make the steps forward that they want to in life. The courses can run from a couple of weeks to
a couple of months, and all of them are great!
You’re probably like most of the people we get on the course and life gets a bit busy.
We listened. The Restore Programme is developing and piloting a monthly drop-in Hour of
Wellbeing for anyone to attend. Now you can balance your busy life with focusing on your health
and wellbeing too.
Each month we are looking at a different topic.
For January, we looked at creating healthy habits. In February, we tried reflective journaling,
focusing on reflecting the light, not getting sucked into unhelpful thought patterns. In March we
are looking at energy pennies – how can we earn, spend, save and loan them!
The next three months will include sessions on gratitude, financial wellbeing and having difficult
conversations.
Currently the sessions are being run across the city in four different locations:
● The Alive Cafe at Lincoln Community Grocery
● The Bridge Wellbeing Cafe
● The Wellbeing Cafe on Birchwood (at Arise Church)
● Moorlands Foodbank Distribution Centre
If you want to put your health & wellbeing first, then drop into your nearest venue & ask when
the next Hour of Wellbeing is being held. Alternatively, you can email joy.vel@actstrust.org.uk
and she’ll be more than happy to help.
There has been a great response from the people who have had the first few sessions. Many of
them have begun to make real changes in their lives. For others, it is an hour of peace, away
from the hustle and bustle of life.
Why not come along and give it a try? It could be the best hour of your month!
