What Do We Know About Autumn 2025 So Far?

Have you seen? Have you heard?  What good things have you experienced this week that you would like to share?

It’s too early to tell for sure yet, but the records so far this autumn suggest it’s an exceptionally good year for acorn crops. According to Nature’s Calendar, the largest average crop in the last 20 years was 2013.  We’ll have to wait until the end of the season to see how 2025 matches up.  Did you know that Acts Trust is nearly 20 years old?  It is growing up.

Have you noticed that shops are filled with Christmas decorations alongside Halloween goods?  At Acts we are still celebrating and collecting all the good things donated during harvest celebrations in schools and churches.  The seasons roll swiftly on and many of our donations now, and at Christmas, are needed next year rather than now.  Things need to be stored for when they are most needed in more barren months ahead so there is never too much.  It is a mast year for the trees – an abundant crop of fruit and seeds – which ensures the trees reproduce, too much to use or store – even for the squirrels.  The trees are looking beyond to the next generation and to ensure their survival.

It is the responsibility of our leadership at Acts to plan ahead.  Those who gather financial resources work alongside our wonderful staff and volunteers who gather and distribute food, and who sit with people in need and go into schools.

We cannot rely on one fund, one pot of money or one person’s giving lasting for more than a season, careful planning is needed.  A new generation of regular donors ensures there are resources to run our projects for the coming months and years when existing funds have depleted.

Many hands make light work, many who give a little make it work too!  From small acorns mighty oaks grow.  All the staff have been asked to share the good news about what Acts does to family and friends and ask them to work alongside us to help raise funds.

Do consider joining us!
