How important is determination?

I wonder: what would be on your list of values you think a charity should uphold?

It may not be at the top of your list, but I think determination is a core value that keeps us moving forward.

Here at Acts, Determination is one of our six values. We aim to approach everything with high energy and a positive attitude and channel our passions into positive action, focussing on solutions over problems. We have faith that greater things can be achieved than might seem possible and so we make decisions with confidence and boldness and ensure our commitment is thorough and reliable.

Project Update – Find out what’s happening with the youth in Lincoln.

Written by Caitlin Russell – Carr

We’ve had lots of exciting things happen over the month of May in our Youth Program. We started the month with our annual youth conference, Captivate. We saw over 45 young people gather together from various Alive locations and other churches in Lincoln. They were a part of our worship team, responded to messages throughout the day and got involved in Q & A’s and games. One young person said it was the best Captivate yet! Others said they really enjoyed the Q & A seminars as they had the chance to ask our amazing panel all their questions about relationships, their walk with Jesus and more. We had guests from our Alive Lincoln locations and The Message Trust.

How to have difficult conversations

Written by Joy Velykorodnyy

We’ve all been there! Knowing we need to have a ‘little chat’, but dreading it!

Why are there some conversations which we dread? We know they are important, but we’d rather not have them.

All good things at the Bridge Community Hub

Written by Mike Fowler

Foodbank is a great way for our church to make a real difference in our community and to do what
we can to combat isolation and poverty.

The nutritionally balanced parcels are well designed to support people for three days when they are
short of food, but they don’t give people a lot of choice and we often have guests leaving items
behind. We’re fortunate to have lots of space to store food and welcome guests so we’ve been
hatching plans to give people more choice over what food they get and to give them opportunities to
contribute if they can.

February Half Term at Energize: Fun, Friendship & Growth

We have been having a great time at Energize recently.

Over February Half Term, we worked on the Monks Road estate, reaching out to young people in the area. We also provided outreach/detached youth work, based on the Lincoln Arboretum park, resulting in us propping up football goals & enjoying the open space.

The rest of the week, we had some warm indoor space at Alive Lincoln Central, where we cooked pizzas for young people & had games consoles out for them to play on. They really enjoyed this time.
