An Interview with Ricky
Ricky has been volunteering with Lincoln Foodbank since January 2022. He is part of the Tuesday evening team at the warehouse. I wanted to shine a light on Ricky and let you all know what he’s been up to over the past year..
For the past 10 years Ricky and a group of friends have been raising money for different charities. Each year they choose a charity to raise funds by doing various activities. As a group they have raised over £8000 for these different charities. Which is amazing! This year was Ricky’s year to choose and he chose Foodbank – woohoo!
In September Ricky is running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in hope to raise £650 for Trussell Trust. Earlier this year, a charity football match took place raising a brilliant £450 towards the total. Here is a photo of the teams. Ricky is the one right in the middle, with a big smile on his face holding up The Trussell Trust T-shirt.
A few words from Ricky;
I currently volunteer at Lincoln Foodbank in the warehouse and have personally seen the demand for food banks increase over the past few months. After completing the ‘Race for Hunger’ and seeing the positive feedback I got, this has inspired me to run in the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Trussell Trust.
I love being able to give my personal time to Foodbank volunteering in the warehouse, especially for a cause where we can all be part of the solution. Being able to play my part is so important and I want to model that to my children too. I can’t give huge sums financially, but I can give my time and be part of the bigger picture.
I asked Ricky what he would say to someone needing a Food parcel, he said
‘We are all doing our best. We all care about one another. Please stop and ask for help, just talking means we can help you. The reason I volunteer is because I want to help. Just ask!’
What great words!
What a wonderful volunteer and role model Ricky is.
Ricky, thank you for all you and the Tuesday team do. We are so grateful for all our volunteers, Lincoln Foodbank couldn’t help as many people as it does if it wasn’t for our army of volunteers!
